Stopped over to see my “english lady-friend”, Loraine the other day to have a chat and part of our talks were about our efforts to get the word out……rather quickly, about the clean-up effort on Broadway in our downtown area. Loraine wanted to thank me for volunteering a few hours on this project, and during our conversation, she said,” Muley, why don’t you write about it on your blog?”.

O.K.

I can do that.

Now, I’m no writer. Fact. Not a myth. I’m just learning how to do this bloggin’  thingy. But back to the real story here, volunteerism. We’ve all done it, some a lot, some when they can. One thing I know for sure, it’s catchy. I actually picked up my volunteer efforts a couple of years ago by collecting food donations for Second Harvest food bank. Since then, I’ve been involved with anything from helping do repairs on friends homes, to volunteering on referendum committee’s or just running an errand for someone disabled. How does one go about volunteering? Well, for me it was simple.

Two words.

Loraine Ritchey

What a gift that woman has, to donate her precious time for all things good in Lorain, her second home to her beloved England. I’ve never witnessed someone who cares so much about others than Loraine. From the simplest chores to more time-consuming endeavors, that woman is there to help.

You’ll see her at city council meetings.

You’ll see her at all the festivals.

Stop by her house and she’ll get 3 or 4 phone calls asking for help while your there.

She’ll support just about any cause that is put out there, and support it like there’s no tomorrow. When I think of volunteerism, I can’t help but think of that woman, Loraine.

Volunteering is easy when you have examples laid in front of you almost daily, as noted here, here, here, here and here.Volunteering has become very easy from the actions of that woman.

Thank you Loraine, for the inspiration to help others in times of need.

You are a Godsend.
